Due the success of the 2010 Surry Hills Festival and the renovations to our permanent festival home, Prince Alfred Park, the 2011 will once again be held in the parks and green spaces surrounding Crown Street, Surry Hills.

Think intimate, picnic style, relaxed vibe ... with stalls set amidst the sights and sounds of the entertainment stages.

Shannon Reserve (Crown St) and Ward Park (Devonshire St) will be home for Festival stages and market and food areas.

As the parks are smaller than Prince Alfred Park, we are only able to offer a limited number of stall sites. Market stalls in 2011 will feature an array of local designers, vintage fashion, hand crafted artwork, eco and fair trade products as well as delicious foods from around the globe. If you fit the categories above please send us your expression of interest form as soon as possible (more information below). Please note – submitting an EOI form does not guarantee a site at the 2011 Surry Hills Festival. If you are accepted we will contact you and ask for a formal application and payment.

The Festival is produced by the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, as a major Fundraiser for the Centre's community services. The Centre uses the funds raised for a range of community activities including low cost childcare, information resources, English classes, multicultural services, advocacy and information and referral services.

What's on Offer?

Surry Hills experiences a rich and diverse culture, and this is showcased in the range and creativity of our festival stalls. As stall places are very limited for the 2011 Festival, stallholders will be asked to complete an Expression of Interest form, briefly outlining the goods being sold and other relevant information. Successful applicants will be notified in February 2011, and forwarded an application and payment form.

City of Sydney Council officers will be present to inspect food stalls on festival day. It is essential that all food stall holders complete the Temporary Food Stalls Details form which will be included with the festival application form. This Temporary Food Stalls Details form must be returned to us with your completed festival application form: these will then be forwarded by us to the City of Sydney prior to the event along with your public liability insurance.

NOTE: The City of Sydney now requires all food stallholders to store food in a cool room if stalls are operating for more than 3 hours. You will need to bring your own cool room, or organise to share one with another stallholder. Please be aware that you need to preorder and pay for power to run your cool room.

All temporary food stalls must also register with the NSW Food Authority on-line at www.foodnotify.nsw.gov.au. Please ensure that you do this as a matter of priority. On-line notifications are free. Manual notification incurs a fee of $50. For enquiries regarding these notifications contact the NSW Food Authority on 1300 552 406 or at contact@foodauthority.nsw.gov.au

Stall spaces are limited so put in your Expression of Interest early, before 31 January 2011. The selection of the stalls will be made as soon as possible and successful applicants will be notified in February.

Fete Stalls

Stall holders may choose to rent a fete stall which must be booked in advance on the Application Form. Fete stalls dimensions are 2.4m x 2.4m, with 60cm wide benches on three sides at an approximate height of 90cm. Fete stalls are 2.7m high in total, with a wall height of 2.1m.

Please note you will only be able to sell from the front of the stall.
