The Surry Hills Festival ‘2010’ will showcase the thriving creative community of Surry Hills. The festival’s regular home of Prince Alfred Park is undergoing extensive renovations, so this year the festival will be finding a temporary new home and a new shape. Please note – the festival will be MUCH SMALLER this year, with significantly fewer numbers of stages and artists. Next year, we’ll return to our usual format.
So this year, as well as enjoying the two festival entertainment stages at Ward Park (Devonshire Street) & Shannon Reserve (Crown Street), festival goers will have the opportunity to explore other activities and possible venues around the suburb. (Please note – unlike earlier Surry Hills Festivals, there will be NO ROAD CLOSURE on Crown Street on festival day.)
The 2010 festival will be creative, intimate and have a community picnic feel with the entertainment stages in the two parks showcasing a mosaic of talent from emerging artists and bands, and possibly some satellite events occurring across the suburb. The line up will be released soon, so check back regularly to this website.
No BYO – alcohol will NOT be available to purchase in either of the parks, so please enjoy a drink in the many local restaurants or hotels around Surry Hills. Both Ward Park and Shannon Reserve are Alcohol Prohibited, so there is strictly NO BYO alcohol to either of the festival sites.
The Surry Hills Community Centre will also feature some great activities for the young and young at heart and introduce the community to the fabulous new centre. As well, satellite events will take place in venues across the 2010 suburb.
